As part of our "28 Days To A Healthier You" launch in the new year, we'd be remiss if we didn't devote time to talking about willpower. It's the bane of everyone's existence when they're trying to tackle new challenges & goals. It's in the very first module of our course, because it's such an important part of any success story.
As with everything we present, we keep it as simple & easy to manoeuver as possible. In today's blog, we'll explore a few key elements of making sure your willpower stays in your corner & keeps working for you as you make the transitions to a healthier-happier life.
If we don't talk about anything else, you'd have enough to bolster your plans if you remember that inspiration & motivation are a hand-in-glove combination. Inspiration is most often an internalized pull you feel towards something, whereas motivation is more of an external call to action.
Think about the times in your life you were most successful, either personally or professionally. More than likely, you first felt an inner desire to pursue that something. Once the inspiration took hold, you began looking for ways to make it happen. The motivation to act then followed.
If you've harnessed the process once, you can replicate it whenever you need to with just a few tips & tools. The first is being aware of the inspiration-motivation combination, & how powerful it can be.
Next, break down your thoughts on both into concrete, black & white ideas. For example, once I visited the Cote D'Azur, I was perennially inspired with the dream of living there. Once that dream took hold, I began my motivated process of finding ways to make it happen.
Of course, writing everything down helped a lot, as it always does, to clarify & streamline my process. Hmmm-travel agents & hotel concierges who speak English are wanted worldwide. So, I began researching the companies that had home offices in the states, with properties in the South of France. Eureka! Lowe's at that time had a property in Monaco, so I applied for several positions & landed one! But it all began with that inspired thought on a back-burner in my mind, & my subsequent motivation to find a way to make it happen.
Everything you want to see or have happen in your life begins with the inspiration-motivation process. The key to harnessing the willpower you'll need stems directly form how detailed & clear your thoughts & subsequent actions will be. You'll need willpower to take the plans you've dreamt of & been motivated to pursue into actionable steps.
For example, my move to Europe determined papers & funds I would need, how much of what I owned would come with me, & what it would cost,etc... Once I completed my inspirational-motivational process, I had a concise idea of what willpower I would need to set everything up. How much time I needed to set aside, how much money I needed to save, & other logistical necessities would be so much easier now that I was inspired & motivated.
Everyone can tap into this effective process to attain goals & complete projects. We've all done it before, & perhaps just didn't notice it was a definitive & productive process. Now that we're aware, we can channel all of it whenever we need to. Noting what inspires you, then creating a motivational response is a surefire way to harness all the willpower you'll need to successfully reach all your goals!
