Everybody knows a little bit about smoothies, they've been a trend for quite some time. But, there's so much more you can do with smoothies that you can imagine, & we want to help show you many of the possibilities that will improve your nutritional & fitness levels, & help boost your immunity.
Of course, the first important item to consider is the quality of your ingredients. It's best to use organic fruits & vegetables, so you can get the highest level of nutrients possible. Intially, smoothies were just glorified milkshakes, but over time, the health benefits & convenient advantages have blossomed infinitely.
In addition, the quality & variety of affordable blenders & mixers has dramatically improved, so there's really something for everyone, & no reason not to jump in & begin experiencing the healthy benefits of a great smoothie!
First things first-here's the link to a great beginning in your search for interesting & delicious smoothies.
You'll find ideas for breakfast smoothies, snack-able smoothies, & smoothies that can de-tox, jumpstart your metabolism & rev up your energy levels. Try Patrick's recipe for what he calls his "MeTURBOlism Smoothie". It's a meal. It's anti-inflammatory. It's heart-healthy. It's amazing! The first time I tried it, I was really surprised at how long I stayed full & energetic. You can definitely tick off your to-do list for an entire morning or afternoon with this packed-full of goodness smoothie.
It's important that you use a blender or mixer that can really plow through all the terrific ingredients in your smooth. Patrick loves the VitaMix. It's a bit pricey, but he swears by it. I like the NInja Bullet. It's more reasonably priced & can manage any smoothie with ease.
A great tip to remember? If you love your smoothies cold like we do, stack & store your fruits & veggies in the freezer. It'll create a much creamier consistency than just adding ice to your blender.
If you're not satisfied with just a smoothie alone, you can pair them, depending on sweet or savory tastes, with other healthy sides. Savory cravings? Try adding a side serving of organic popcorn or herbed olives. Sweet tooth? Try pairing your smoothie with one of our blueberry breakfast bars.
Here's a easy one-bowl, no-mix recipe.
Finally, don't short-change your blending/mixing time. It makes for a lumpy, messy smoothie. Start your appliance on a slower setting & gradually increase to higher speeds, to make sure all your ingredients get truly blended & served up smoothly.

TakeAway Tip: If you don't have a moment to make your own, grab a liquid yogurt. Ciobani & Stoneyfield are 2 of our favorites. Along with a handful of nuts & a piece of fruit, you can keep going with everything you need!
