SCRY For Success-#2 In Series
When we think of the word commitment, we usually call to mind our commitments to others. Often, we forget to commit to our own health & wellness. And, as we all know, if you don't take care of yourself, you can't help anyone else you care about.
We believe that you have to be 100% committed to your own healthy journey, & that committing to your self-care is a must, just like eating, drinking, sleeping. We want to motivate you to create your commitment with that sense of importance & urgency, so that you develop a healthy habit that you know is comfortable & necessary to live well every day.
We've done a few posts & podcasts touching on ideas to help discern your commitment. You can find them grouped here on our Living Well Community Facebook page: Set An Intention, Realistic Rituals, Me-Time Musts, Set Up To Succeed & more. Just surf the keywords that inspire you!
Last week, we introduced our SCRY For Success acronym, & we covered the first letter S-for setting an intention, This week, let's chat about the next letter-C for commitment, & ways to create rituals to help you launch & sustain your commitment.
Once you've chosen your intention, commitment to it is the next step. And, it's often assumed to be automatic. It's not. It takes time, a game plan & ways to remind you to stick to it. It's not as difficult as you'd imagine, you just need to consider the framework of it as being a must, & be prepared to hit the reset button every day. Habits become routine, with commitment & everyday practice.
-Make a simple reminder with a phrase you repeat often every day. "I plan to be healthier & happier." Or, "I am committed 100% to create the time & means to be healthier & happier." Choose words that have meaning & motivation for you. We love using rhymes, because the reiterate our commitment in snappy, fun ways that remind us to remember & act!
*We'll upload some of our empowering rhymes soon, in our new launch. We haven't named it, but we'll keep you posted. It will just be a minute or two of an inspirational video with rhymes in song that we hope will rev up your weekend. That's when we're all most likely to derail our projects!
-Create ways to reaffirm your commitment. A red string around your wrist, that you can touch to remind you. A scented candle, that when lit, will soothe & inspire you to remember your commitment. Whatever ritual you can create for a few minutes every day will empower your commitment & help you to stay on track.
-Review, Refresh, Replenish & Reward your commitment. We come back to this often, because it's an ongoing process & we want you to enjoy yourself along the way! Click the link for our blog/podcast combo that will help you set, or reset your game plan. Every few weeks or so, check your progress. Tweak where you need to as per time & resources. And remember to reward yourself for taking charge & staying committed!
We'll dive deeper into all of this on Thursday, with our corresponding podcast on the PJ Wellness Show, so sign up wherever you get your casts.
It's all a part of your wellness journey, & we want to help you live a healthier-happier lifestyle!
Best, Patrick & Jo-Anna
TakeAway Tip: Use everything at your disposal to honor your commitment. Mantras, bracelets, candles, your best friend. Create a space & a ritual that reinforces your commitment. Repeat your commitment to yourself each day, & then-tell everyone in your entourage.
Great projects need lots of support!
