Make New Year's Resolutions Stick | Action Plan
Get more exercise, eat healthier, quit smoking — three classic New Year's resolutions. And the best thing about this list? You can use them again every year, because according to the latest statistics, a few days after the beginning of the new year you have already discarded all your good resolutions. But this year everything will be different, I have the solution for you! Implement these three tips and the new year is guaranteed to be a success:
#1 Write down resolutions with goals in mind
What went wrong over the last few years that made you not stick to your New Year's resolutions? One reason could be that you didn't put anything in writing. "I don't have to do that, I remember everything," many will think. Don't be so sure! Putting everything in writing has two advantages. First, you become clear about what you want to achieve and what measures you need to take to achieve it. And secondly, you are constantly reminded every day of what you have planned. So define your goals right now and what you would like to do to achieve these goals (a goal could be, for example, to move for half an hour three times a week). Once you have written everything down clearly, put the note somewhere where you will inevitably see it every day (e.g. on the refrigerator or the bathroom mirror). And for those who still don't have a pen in hand - start NOW! Do not read any further until you have defined your goals and measures.
#2 Hire a friend
So you have defined everything and now you know what and how you want to achieve it. Next, we get a little helper on our side. You ask a friend to help you with your New Year's Resolutions mission. All he needs to do is call you once a week on Sunday to see if you have implemented all your measures that week (that's why it's so important that we have defined everything beforehand, otherwise he wouldn't know what to check). What benefit does that give you? Can you remember your days at school where there were teachers who meticulously checked every homework? How did you do this homework? Of course, in such a way that the teacher had few points of attack, and everything was done accordingly to order. Then there were the teachers, who always gave homework assignments, however, they rarely if ever looked at them. How much effort did you put in these? Probably not much at all! That's why your friend is so important as a control body.
#3 Bring fire into play
To make the whole thing a bit more explosive and to motivate your friend not to forget to call you, you can tighten up this game a little. He controls you for two months and you give him $180 at the beginning. . . you probably think I’m crazy as to why you should do this!! But do you know what the best part of this is? You can earn this money back! For every week that you stick to your plan, you get $20 back from your friend. If you don't go through with your plan (even if you only miss a single session), your friend gets to keep the current week's $20. After nine weeks you either get the $180 back or if you give up in the second week, for example, your friend will be happy to keep the $160. That should give you the motivation you need when you're going through a little low motivation. Important: Call your friend immediately - NOW. Because I want you to get down to business (you know, people are forgetful ;-)). Have fun getting started!
PS. Here's how you can switch up the last tip.
Instead of giving the money to a friend and letting him or her keep it, you can choose a political party that you don't like at all. Then you put let’s say $200 or an amount of money in an envelope that really hurts, and if you don't follow through with your good resolution, your friend will donate the money to the party you don't like at all - that should be enough punishment! So, what’s the party of your choice?
I hope I was able to help you with these three tips. Do you have a fourth power tip for me? Write me an email or post it in my Facebook group “The Living Well Community”. I am looking forward to it!

Start exercising || My 4 best tips
In order to be fit, whether it’s for work or day-to-day life, a generally good physical condition is important. Not only do your muscles need to be strengthened in a targeted manner, but your endurance is also important. What is the best way to start exercising?
Starting with exercise– the best tips
You used to do exercises and now want to start again or are you still a complete newbie? No problem! I have prepared 4 tips for you here on how you can finally start exercising and stay motivated. Look forward to the nice feeling of being fit.
#1 Find an activity or exercise that you enjoy
If it's fun, then you like to go! Sounds logical, but many people initially choose an activity or exercise routine that they really don't like at all. Not everyone is a runner, but many feel it is imperative that they take up running. As a result, they throw in the towel (again) after a few weeks or even a few days. Instead, find something that suits you – cycling, group exercise, swimming, or if you enjoy it, running, of course. Find something you enjoy and you're already halfway there!
#2 A great exercise to start with the whole family would be Nordic walking, for example:
I have included a link to a video. Here Nordixx of Canada explains everything you need to know about Nordic Walking to get started. They show you the technique, how to use the sticks and breathe plus give you valuable tips that are very helpful for every beginner.
#3 Set fixed times
Now that you have found a suitable exercise, we only need suitable days. If you don't set yourself a fixed day, you'll never do it. Enter your exercise or activity in the appointment calendar. No other appointment should be so important that you postpone an appointment with yourself. At first glance, this might seem fussy. But if you implement it consistently, nothing stands in the way of your fitness success. And let's be honest: You should definitely be worth this one hour. Especially because you invest the time in your health and thus in your future. So reserve exercise days and times in the calendar and get started.
#4 Start slowly / Don't overexert yourself
Another reason neo-recreational athletes retire early is because they overexert themselves in the beginning. Five exercise bouts in the first week – two more in the second week and in the third week? What’s happening? I am exhausted and can’t move any more! So start slow at first. Two days are enough. You can always increase your exercise dose later if it's not enough for you. This way you can continue to have fun, slowly increase your fitness level and keep at it.
Once more, here are the 4 steps to start with: (Your Getting Started Exercise Guide)
#1 Find an activity or exercise routine that you like
#2 Set fixed days to exercise
#3 Start slowly
#4 And of course, having a lot of fun, then fitness success will come naturally
